shiva rajkumar, cancer battle, film shoot,

In a recent interview, actor Shiva Rajkumar disclosed that he finished shooting a film just before undergoing surgery for cancer treatment. Two months ago, he had the procedure in Miami. It’s where parts of his bladder were reconstructed using tissue from his small intestine. He returned to India in late January and has been in recovery since.

Shiva Rajkumar Shot For Kannada Film 45 Before Cancer Treatment

During a conversation on the Masth Magaa podcast, Shiva revealed that he continued filming through chemotherapy. It was because he was determined to complete his work before the surgery. He shared, “The only question I had was, ‘Is it time for me to finish this (45)?’ I was apprehensive because I knew chemotherapy could lead to hair loss. The doctor cleared me but advised against overexerting myself. I would finish my chemo sessions and then head to the set, which left me very fatigued. I don’t want to give too much away. But when you see the climax of 45, you’ll be surprised by how I managed it. My character required me to embody gentleness rather than anger.”

He admitted feeling ‘scared’ upon learning he needed cancer surgery. However, it came to terms with it, realizing there was no alternative. Nonetheless, he was also concerned about finishing his upcoming film, 45.

Shiva was quick to note that he didn’t want to take sole credit for his perseverance, as he had a robust support system during this challenging time. He expressed gratitude, saying, “I believe that God and my father (Rajkumar) were there to guide me. I also received tremendous support from my wife, my family, the industry, and my fans. It truly feels like a blessing. Who should I thank?”
